Kevin McCarthy – Senior Vice President, Network Engineering

Kevin McCarthy has been with the company since 1999. With a staff of more than 30 engineers and technicians, McCarthy is responsible for the design, management, and support of MTN’s global VSAT satellite network.

During his tenure, McCarthy has successfully led the company through several major technology upgrades, greatly increasing the performance and capabilities of the MTN network, serving more than 600 vessels and sites worldwide. Most recently, McCarthy’s team was responsible for successfully implementing Automatic Beam Switching across MTN’s entire Ku-Band network of 21 satellite beams, making it the industry’s largest ABS-enabled VSAT network. MTN’s customers can now enjoy seamless global roaming with no manual intervention, greatly improving availability and the user experience.  Prior to MTN, McCarthy was a Sr. Network Engineer for EDS (Electronic Data Systems, now part of HP) working with Norwegian Cruise Line. 

McCarthy holds a BA from The Johns Hopkins University, a master’s in computer information systems from the University of Miami, and a master’s in finance from Florida International University.
